In a shocking incident, two children fell victim to a brutal attack in Badaun city in Uttar Pradesh, India. The assailant, a local salon owner named Mohd Sajid, ended the lives of his neighbor’s sons and was later gunned down by the regional police force.

Illicit Incursion
At around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the 22-year-old Sajid made his way into the home of contractor Vinod Thakur. Using a sharp weapon, he fatally wounded Thakur’s sons, Ayush, 13, and Ahaan, 6. Thakur’s third son, Piyush, survived the attack with minor injuries.
Police officials reported that Sajid attempted to flee after the heinous crime. “The accused tried to escape. We chased him. He fired at the police and was killed in retaliatory fire,” stated Bareilly Inspector-General of Police Rakesh Kumar.
The chilling double murder sparked a sizable commotion among local residents, leading some to set fire to shops and demand swift justice.
A Mystifying Motive
What precisely provoked Sajid to carry out such a horrifying act remains unclear. His shop, situated in the Baba colony of Badaun city, was not a known source of dispute.

Diving into the matter, the Superintendent of Police in Badaun revealed further details. “According to the family, the accused had demanded ₹5,000 from the father of the deceased children,” said the SSP Badaun.
The family alleges that Sajid was not alone in his grim endeavor. In their official report, they named Javed, Sajid’s brother. Current efforts are now focused on locating and apprehending him.
Ushering in Calm amid Chaos
In the face of communal unrest, local authorities have reinforced the security presence around the Baba colony.
Manoj Kumar, Badaun District Magistrate, made a public appeal for peace. Efforts to pacify concerned citizens are ongoing as the investigation unfolds.
In the aftermath of such a gruesome incident, there are more questions than answers. As authorities work tirelessly to piece together the puzzle, local citizens and a grieving family await justice and, eventually, closure.
